Managing a User's Permission Groups

Use this feature to assign or remove permission groups per user, one user at a time. This method is one of two available when managing permissions. When you need to assign or remove multiple users from one permission group, see Managing Permission Group Members.

4786_note An alternative to assigning permission groups manually is to copy the Groups tab settings from another user. See Mirroring a User's Setting for more details.

You can manage group permissions immediately after adding a new user.

When a user is assigned to multiple permission groups, the least restrictive permission group takes precedence.

After you manage groups, you can use the Permissions tab to quickly review all permission groups for a user.

  1. On the toolbar, point to Security and click Manage Users.

    A list of users appears.

  2. Click the Manage button corresponding to the user you want to assign to a group.

    The Manage User window appears.

  3. Click the Groups tab.
  4. Select each group you want to assign to the user by selecting the corresponding check box.
  5. Click Save Tab.
